BROOM

Belated intro: I stumbled across this alphabe challenge, hosted by Jenny Matlock, while bloghopping last week, and jumped in without giving it much thought. I'm usually a Planner, but I started this with nothing more than the alphabet in mind. 

Fast forward a week, and it looks like I'm better organized and settled down to an I Spy Around-the-House alphabet series, doesn't it? Plenty of odd stuff to see around here :)  And red will probably become a secondary theme, because my house is red, and so many of the things in it are red, too ... so OK, let's see how many entries I can accumulate that include red.

A is for ...

AMARYLLIS

We always start a bulb on Thanksgiving, and look forward to it blooming sometime in January. 

Here are the ones we did last year, photo was taken on Jan 29, so they took almost nine weeks to develop and bloom.  I think it depends on how much light they get, and how warm they are.  Our sunroom is very bright but rather chilly.
